Many of these pistols were carried by Confederate troops in the American Civil war supplied by their French allies. This French Dragoon pistol has a Walnut Stock with regulation brass fittings. The all original stock has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age. The brass has several French inspection marks. The action plate is stamped with ‘Mutzig Arsenal’ detail. The 7 ¾” sighted barrel dated 1856 has inspection marks and numbers (illustrated). The pistol’s smooth bore is clean. The pistol retains the original iron ramrod with hollow powder measure cup tip. The pistol cocks and dry fires with a strong action. The pistol’s brass butt has an iron military lanyard ring. This is a fine example of this pistol, substantial and well made. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Sn 21449:3
