Description

Indian Pattern No. 1 MK ** Bayonet With The Fuller Running to the Tip and 1942 Dated Leather Scabbard. Sn 10880:27 - 10880:27

An Indian Pattern No. 1, MK I** Bayonet and 1942 dated leather scabbard. This is a shortened conversion of an earlier bayonet with the fuller running to the tip and with an addition of a false edge. This bayonet was originally made in January 1941 and converted in 1956. The bayonet is in excellent condition. It has a blackened 12" blade which has a fuller to the tip and false edge. It is stamped on the ricasso with "MKI** G.R.I. 1907 R.F.I." and on the reverse with "FR X 56" (factory Repair 1956). It has slab wood grips which are secured with two screw bolts and both are stamped with inspection marks. The pommel has a release button which operates smoothly and it has a clearance hole. The leather scabbard has a metal locket and chape and it is stamped along the stitching with "1942" (see the photographs). (see page 348, item 152 in Skennerton's 'British & Commonwealth Bayonets book). The price includes UK Delivery. Sn 10880:27
