Create my profile now!The English London based Gunsmith Robert Wogdon (1733-1813) is recorded as having premises at Cockspur St, Charing Cross in 1764 & Haymarket 1774- 1802 (see page 216 of British Gunmakers Vol 1 by Brown). This is an excellent flintlock overcoat pistol by Robert Wogdon. It is 7 ¼” overall length with a 3 ¾” round steel barrel. The barrel’s smoothbore is near mint clean & bright. The underside of the barrel has crisp black powder proofs / inspection marks. The action has foliate engraved decoration around oval panels. one panel is signed ‘Wogdon’, the other ‘London’. It has a steel cock fitted with flint. The cocking and firing mechanisms work crisply and it has a sliding safety bolt to the rear of the action. The original walnut stock is undamaged.
