A superb cased pair of silver mounted .55 calibre percussion duelling pistols made by Thomas Jackson Mortimer, in absolutely superb condition. Circa 1832-1835. The pistols are both engraved with the makers name "MORTIMER" on the lock-plates. the barrels retaining all their original browned finish and engraved on top "MORTIMER ST. JAMES' STREET, LONDON". Very fine engraved silver trigger guards & butt-caps stamped with Georgian era London silver hall-marks. The pistols both fitted with adjustable set-triggers. Superbly coloured and engraved lock plates and fitted with oval shaped silver escutcheons inlaid into the side of the chequered wooden grips. Wooden ramrods. The barrels both stamped underneath with London proof marks. The set contained in their original green baize lined wooden carrying case with a plain brass folding handle to lid and paper trade label fitted inside the lid. The wooden case has seen very minor use and has a few marks to the case lid. Complete with some accessories including a steel pincer bullet mould, shaped copper 3-way powder flask, cleaning rod and nipple key. An extremely fine pair of percussion duelling pistols by a famous maker retaining almost all their original blued finish and showing no signs of wear. The pistols 15 inches long.
