Description

A scarce single shot man-stopper Scottish .75 calibre percussion pistol by CAMPBELL of GLASGOW, Circa 1830-1850. The lock plate engraved CAMPBELL. (Probably Thomas Campbell who had a workshop in Brunswick Street circa 1846-1853 and at Saltmarket circa 1857. Sighted 5 inch octagonal nicely browned barrel of unusual MASSIVE calibre. The top of barrel is engraved GLASGOW. A rectangular shaped escutcheon fitted to the rear of grip and fine chequering to the grips. Fixed iron swivel ramrod. Dolphin hammer. Traditionally engraved iron trigger guard. Action in good working order. Overall length 11 inches. Some very minor dings and scratches otherwise in very good condition. A scarce and unusual pistol from Scotland. Ref 3449.
