This is an original, British Camouflaged Denison Smock with tail flap and correct half zip direct from an ex member of British Special Forces. Early post war Denisons remained faithful to the WW2 design with slight variations in the brown colours progressively lightening to a brick red colour (see pages 146 & 147 of the book Denison by Wilson & Military Mode). On page 140 of Wilson’s book he describes how the 1st major change to post war Denisons was the placement of elasticated cuffs on the sleeves. Initial WW2 Denisons had elasticated cuffs, then, as a war economy measure they began to be produced with adjustable cuffs without elasticated wool. This was unpopular with troops and post war the elasticated cuffs returned. WW2 brass Newey stud fasteners were replaced by Nickel plated studs post war (one WW2 Denison manufacturer ‘REGO’ was known to produce Denisons with nickel plated studs, see page 89 of Wilson’s book). Our Denison has adjustable cuffs without elasticated wool found on WW2 & early post war smocks and Nickel plated Newey stud fasteners. Unfortunately its white cotton label is washed out with no maker, date or size markings visible. All material and stitching are clean with just minor service wear. All zips and Newey stud fasteners are present and work perfectly. The smock is a large size approx. UK size 6’ height 40” chest. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 19599:11
