~ 20th Light Dragoons 1796 Pattern Cavalry Sabre And Scabbard ~
This is an excellent example of a cavalry sable used in the Napoleonic wars with a curved (yataghan style) light fullered blade with an under wired black wooden grip steel guard.
The sword comes with its steel scabbard fitted with two suspension rings.
The blade is marked on the edge with the sword smiths name ‘Woolley & Co.’.
The scabbard is stamped on one side ‘XX LD’ and on the other ‘Woolley Birmingham’.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 33 inches (84 cm) and its overall length is 37.5 inches (95.3 cm).
The overall length of the sword and scabbard is 39 inches (99 cm).
It weighs 1.5 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sabre is in excellent condition for its age.
The blade has one small nick but is rust free.
The hilt is in good condition with minor spots of surface rust.
The grip is worn but 99% complete.
The scabbard is in good order.
