The Sterling HR 81 is a rare, underlever spring-piston air rifle launched in 1982 by the Dagenham-based Sterling Armaments Company, a British manufacturer primarily famous for producing submachine guns. Designed by Roy Hutchinson (whose reversed initials gave the rifle its "HR" name) alongside Peter Hart and Peter Moon, it is highly regarded today as a heavy, robustly built collector's piece. The guns have an Underlever spring-piston cocking mechanism with a unique spring-loaded, bolt-action loading breech. This is a very good example in .22 calibre. It has a 17 ½” rifled barrel and is 43” overall length. The rifle has a target fore sight , but is absent its original iron rear sight and is instead fitted with a Redfield 4x telescopic sight, the optics of which work correctly. The barrel block has model, calibre, manufacturer & patent detail (all illustrated) and number ‘1484’. The gun cocks and fires with a strong spring action. The Walnut wood work with rubber recoil pad and chequered panels at the pistol grip is excellent. The price includes UK delivery.
