This is an excellent original British Model 1888 Naval Boarding Pike. These Pikes were used in the Victorian Era for boarding enemy vessels and repelling attacks by enemy boarders. The Pike has an overall length of 7 Feet 6 Inches with a tapering 4 ½” triangular spear head fixed to its solid undamaged Ash wood shaft by two integral 7 ¼” long extended tangs secured by single rows of screws. The base on the shaft has the correct steel ring with tangs secured by screws. One spear head tang has a crisp ‘N’ Royal Navy mark above WD broad arrow inspection mark and ’94’ date (1894). One tang of the lower shaft ring has WD broad arrow inspection mark. The metal work is clean with no rust or pitting and are securely attached to their excellent Ash shafts which have no cracks or damage.
