These Ancient Kogai have been examined by UK Japanese sword expert Bill Tagg. His notes accompany the Kogai which are attached to a cardboard sheet for storage / display. His notes on the card read “A split kogai, also known as wari-bashi, used in Japanese sword fittings. Made in the mid Edo period circa 1700-1750, crafted in iron with fine gold inlays and gold plate.
