**VERY RARE**ATTRIBUTED**WW1 Australian WD ANZAC’s Kangaroo Skin Equipment Belt Rig With Cross Belts, Bayonet Frog, Water Bottle & Entrenching Tool Worn By Australian Soldier No.66 DORHAM PHILLIP DOOLETTE 27 INF BN (SOUTH AUST) 7 BDE N Z & A DIVISION. - 23211

This is an original & very rare WW1 Australian WD belt rig which was carried by Dorham Phillip Doolette, 27th Infantry Battalion, (South Australia) 7 BDE NZ&A Division, who embarked for WWI on the 25/1/1915 R.T.A. (Returned To Australia) 25/8/1915 (The 27th Australian Infantry Battalion was part of the 7th Brigade and the New Zealand and Australian Division ANZAC. The 27th Battalion was an infantry battalion of the Australian Army. It was initially raised in 1915 as part of the all-volunteer First Australian Imperial Force for service during World War I. During the conflict, the battalion saw action briefly at Gallipoli before later fighting on the Western Front between 1916 and 1918. It was disbanded in 1919). The supple kangaroo skin rig includes a leather belt and cross straps, two sets of five ammunition pouches, original water bottle with stopper, bayonet frog stamped L. French & Son Ltd London 1911 & has WD broad arrow mark, also a 2 piece entrenching spade, the grip engraved Pte Wood, with leather cover impressed ‘MHW (C&M) Helston 1915’. The buckles, leather & stitching of all components of the rig are intact. The belt is adjustable from approx UK size 34 to 36” waist. A hand written card that accompanies the rig reads ‘WEBBING USED BY No 66 DORHAM PHILLIP DOOLETTE 27 INF BN (SOUTH AUST) 7 BDE N Z & A DIVISION. EMBARKED 25–1–1915 R.T.A. 25–8–1915.
