This is an original WW2 Era Nazi German Heer / Army Officer’s Mess Plated Hot Water Dispenser. The trophy / urn shaped dispenser is made of plated brass or copper alloy. It has a bulbous central body with a narrowing neck and a domed removable lid, topped by a brown bakelite finial. The urn stands on a square metal base with four rounded feet & arched side handles. The handles are substantial and curve outward before rejoining the body. Their style suggests they were designed to support the weight of the filled vessel rather than being purely decorative. At the lower front of the body there is a metal dispensing tap with a curved spout. The tap includes a rotating control lever, with central bakelite boss for dispensing hot liquid, such as water, tea, or coffee. Inside the urn behind the spout is a metal filter. The front of urn above the tap is mounted a Nazi Eagle With Swastika Heer Emblem Device. The plated finish is evenly worn with age and the metal work has no dents. The underside of the stand is numbered ‘577’ and there are what looks like hallmarks (illustrated, further research required). The dispenser with its lid on is 15 ½” height, 11 ½” wide between the widest part of each handle & 11” wide from the tip of the spout to the rear of the urn bowl. Empty the dispenser weighs 3.040 Kgs. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 23430 (top shelf storeroom near ship's bells)
