Although often found in collections of Third Reich militaria, this inscription commemorates a First World War unit, of the infamous WW1 fighter ace ‘The Red Baron’ . Introduced in October 1935, this authorised war-commemorative band (Kriegserinnerungsband) were meant for personnel who could officially prove prior WWI service in the original Richthofen fighter wing. These cuff titles were produced and worn during the Third Reich era by Luftwaffe personnel to honour historic German flying units and traditions. This is a rare, un-issued, original WW2 era Luftwaffe NCO’s & Officer’s quality cuff title. The blue material and quality gold embroidered wording and edging “Jagdgeschwader Freiherr v. Richthofen Nr. 1 1917/18” which translates roughly as “Fighter Wing Baron von Richthofen No. 1, 1917/18”, are clean and intact. The price for this excellent, rare cuff title includes UK delivery.
