An early 19thC. Percussion cap traveling pistol, with 'back-action' lock, by the Birmingham gunsmiths from the Archer family (Thomas or William), based in Lichfield Street, Birmingham, with 5" full stocked barrel with various proof marks on the top of the barrel, with brass trigger guard with finial, brass ramrod pipes and tapered wooden ramrod. A half round, slab-sided walnut butt and stock. Action good, hammer holding in half and full cock and firing in full cock. Bore appears clean. A nice piece of history from renowned Birmingham gunsmiths.
