Dutch M4 Knife Bayonet For US M1 Carbines By E&F Horster Solingen & US M8A1 Pattern Scabbard. Sn 9876

This is an excellent original Dutch Knife bayonet for US M1A1 .30 calibre carbines. These Bayonets made for the Netherlands Military are modelled on the US M1 Carbine Bayonets. It has a 6 3/4" clean blade and measures 11 1/2" overall. It has it's original Dutch version heavy steel cross guard with stepped muzzle ring and a steel pommel. The cross guard bears the German E&F Horster Solingen maker's cartouche. Unlike the American bayonet which has a ringed leather handle, the scales of the Dutch version are made of a molded brown composite material with grooves for grip. The scales on this example are excellent & undamaged and are secured by the correct 2 screw bolts. It is complete with original wood US M8A1 Pattern Scabbard with integral webbing frog, single retaining strap, stud fastener & hanging bar. The scabbard is fitted with green boot lace thigh cord.
