This is an excellent original Boer war & WW1 Era Leather Spare Horseshoe Carrier With Emergency Field Repair Adjustable Hinged Iron Horseshoe & 5 Period Iron Horseshoe Nails. The sturdy leather carrier is in excellent condition with original belt loops to the rear & buckle and strap with steel buckle, to allow the carrier to be carried on a sword frog or saddle. The retaining strap has an area of service wear to the centre section but is intact. The flap of the carrier covers a compartment for the adjustable horseshoe and stitched slots for 8 Horseshoe nails. The compartments contain an original emergency field repair iron Horseshoe and 5 original Horseshoe nails. The iron Horseshoe is excellent and undamaged. Its innovative hinge allows hoof size adjustment and is slotted & recessed for 8 nails (4 either side). The 5 iron nails are each approx. 2” length. All leather & stitching are clean.
