Believed to be a ww1 American Doughboy's private side arm, in a altered Bolo knife scabbard.
The knife possibly dates from around 1870s, according to it's style.
It's in great condition with some lovely patina, the hilt is made from leather discs and has a number 3 and the letters DM stamped on it.
It does have scuffs to the brass work on the hilt, consistent with age and use.
Some slight nicks to the cutting edge, so pic's, it also has a bright spot on the blade, not sure what it is, I was told possibly a nickel spot from mixing metal when made ??
A very nice rare item that would be a great addition to any collection.
