The EM-GE Model 6 is a classic, German-manufactured 6mm (.22 short) blank-firing starter pistol originally produced by Gerstenberger & Eberwein. Known for its robust "built-like-a-tank" steel craftsmanship, this compact device has been widely used for sporting events, dog training, and theatrical signalling for decades.It uses a distinctive sliding 6-shot linear bar magazine. The magazine is inserted into the front of the pistol underneath the barrel. With each pull of the trigger, the magazine advances mechanically and eventually exits through the back of the frame once all 6 rounds are spent. It fires 6mm Flobert / .22 Short blank cartridges, which are top-vented for safety. It features a physical safety catch to prevent accidental discharge. The EM-GE trade name stretches from pre-WWII (originally Moritz & Gerstenberger) through the post-war era. Our excellent Circa 1960’s has its original blue finish and has undamaged black chequered plastic grips adorned EM-GE roundels. The pistol fires .22 (6mm) calibre blank cartridges, which produce a loud report and smoke when fired, creating a distinct signal for the commencement of races or other events. The reliability and loudness of the report made these pistols a preferred choice for many race officials and competitors. Although the pistols are primarily associated with sporting events, it also found its way into theatrical performances and historical re-enactments. Its realistic appearance and sound effects allowed it to effectively simulate the firing of a real firearm without the danger of live ammunition. Its loading, firing & safety catch mechanisms work correctly. The frame of the pistol has maker model and calibre detail (illustrated). The pistol comes with its original EM-GE labelled box & has illustrated instruction leaflets. The pistol comes with its original .22 (6mm) blank calibre 8 round magazine.
