Description

Boxed Pre WW2 'The Webley Mark 1' .177 Calibre Air Pistol. Sn 23484:62 - 23484:62

This is an excellent, boxed, 'Webley Mark I Air Pistol'. These pistols were made pre WW2 and post war. Pre 1939 pistol barrels were smooth, without the post war ribbed barrel section and their grips were without the post war Webley embossed roundels (see pages 71 to 73 of Bruce's book Webley Air Pistols). Our pre WW2 example has undamaged metal work and retains its original blue finish. It has the correct undamaged pre war black chequered grips without embossed Webley roundels. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'Webley Air Pistol Mark I Made In England'. The left side also has the correct oil hole marked 'Oil' with arrow indicator. The frame is numbered 52587 & the front of the cylinder has matching number ‘587’. The right side of the cylinder is marked 'Webley & Scott Ltd Birmingham' and has Great Britain, USA & Canada patents. It has an adjustable rear sight & the barrel strap beneath the blade fore sight is faintly stamped '.177' (calibre). The barrel’s rifled bore is clean and the barrel is correctly smooth without post war ribbed grip section. The pistol cocks and fires crisply. The pistol is contained in its original Webley labelled box which has just light surface wear and bears Webley pistol imagery. Original illustrated instructions are adhered to the inside of the lid of the box (illustrated) and the box has its original pellet box compartment with later fabricated pellet box (empty). The price includes UK delivery. Sn 23484:62
