British, 1858 Dated, Pattern 1858 Yatahgan Bar on Band Sword Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 363 Bayonet

This is a British Pattern1858 sword bayonet and scabbard for the pattern 1858 bar on band 2 band Enfield sergeants rifle. The bayonet measures 28 5/8 inches long with a 22 5/8 inch re-curved Yataghan blade. The ricasso is stamped on the right hand side with a crowfoot over WD (War Department), a crown E 53, an Enfield inspection mark. The other side is stamped /58 (1858 manufacture date) and a crown. The spine is stamped R a crown BR 7. The press-stud and external spring locking mechanism work perfectly and the sharply beaked pommel bears a rack or issue number of 300 on the left side. The top of the grip is stamped 30N GS crown R J and a crown E19 on the pommel. The grips are made of chequered black leather held by steel pins. The scabbard is made of black double stitched leather with steel top mount and chape. There is some service wear to the leather of the scabbard.
