This is a nicely marked 1876 pattern Martini Henry rifle socket bayonet with original British markings to the blade. The blade is stamped on the ricasso R over a crowfoot WD a crown E (Enfield) 46. 331 (struck out). The socket retains most of its original blued finish and is complete with its blued locking ring. The mark II scabbard has brass fittings and has 2 rivets in the leather body to hold the internal spring. The locker is stamped with a crowfoot WD a crown E (Enfield) 18. The chape is stamped with a crowfoot and WD. The leather, stitching and metalwork are all in good condition. See Skennerton item B187 on Pages 145 and 147.
