British ‘1907’ Pattern Bayonet and Scabbard with ‘1908’ Webbing. BAYO 6289. Bayonet

This is a nice ‘1907’ bayonet that has had its quillon removed on refurbishment. The blade is stamped ‘Crown over G.R. 1907 10’13? (dating it October 1913) and ‘Wilkinson’. The production figures for 1911 were only 25,575 at ‘Wilkinson’. In ‘1913’ it was decided to remove the quillon and all further bayonets were made without the quillon and those that came in for refurbishment had it removed, (see Skennerton item B235, page 187). The other side of the blade has a broad arrow and several inspection stamps. The grips are wood, held on by two screw bolts, and are in very good condition. The scabbard is the ‘No1 MkII’ with steel locket and external chape (which differentiates it from the MkI) with a round frog stud and 1908 webbing which is also in very good condition.
