Waterlooville Air Rifle Club

This club is far from a professional club My membership at Waterlooville Air Rifle Club was terminated prematurely after I provided feedback regarding the shooting range and its facilities. Parking is a problem as the owner has all his military vehicles parked outside so leaves no room for members, you ask if you can park somewhere to be told “yes that’s fine” only to be told 10 mins later “you have to move….” My annual membership was approaching and with a new £750 fee I felt the price did not reflect the facility’s standards. Since joining the standards have declined and the range has become less professional. The owner has admitted that his other business takes precedence which is evident from the building’s division into a range and workshop with a small narrow backyard used as an outdoor range. This explains why the club had membership space as other professional clubs were full and not accepting any more members. I mentioned the condition of the outside area. The attendant agreed it needs attention. Every time I use the outside area it appears neglected and could cause an accident. It is not visually appealing and does not reflect the professional image of a rifle range. I had not been a member for a year and have had the owners dogs stray onto the ranges three times, the last time was on the outside range when to do its business. I love dogs and have two myself but a rifle range is the place they should be kept or supervised on a leash. toilet facilities were lacking soap for several weeks. I personally purchased some to use which I did not mind. However, there is still no hand drying facility. I now bring my own towel to dry my hands which is acceptable but I am sure other members would also like to dry their hands after using the toilet. The noise and smell indoors are occasionally unbearable. I have left with a headache on a couple of occasions due to the solvents or paints used next door. While there may be limited options for improving ventilation, it is worth considering. I enjoyed visiting the club when I had the time but I believe the facilities and range could be improved to provide a more enjoyable experience for all users. 1. Cleanliness and tidiness of the range 2. Soap and hand drying facilities in the toilets 3. Supervision and security of animals to prevent them from straying onto the shooting range 4. Suitable parking for members 5. Minimising noise and odour while members are on site All of these are basic standards and nothing technical… Dear member- We understand our range isn't up to your standards and we respect that, if you pass on your bank details we will refund you £125 on the next rota, for the rest of the year subscription and we wish you well. Please mail your lanyard back to us.

Fantastic team and atmosphere! You are made to feel very welcome, especially as a beginner. The guys are extremely knowledgeable and are really happy to help guide you to becoming a much better shot! I was significantly better after spending a few sessions with them. I highly recommend this club.

I've been a member for a few months now and love it here. So friendly and such a fun relaxed and informal setup. The other members have been equally friendly too. It's on my way home from work and it is indoors, so it has been perfect for the winter evenings to de-stress for an hour on my journey home. The staff are very knowledgeable and great enthusiasts themselves - big shout out to Andy! They ensure there is a great variety of fun targets to shoot at, in addition to the traditional paper targets, and you can bring your own target sheets too. I've watched the staff be really nurturing to younger shooters and they've even started a weekly kids club to teach them safe and fun shooting. I like that they stock a range of pellets to buy, and they have plenty of guns to borrow, should you not have your own, or simply want to try something different. Well done team!

Visited today with my partner and had such a great time at Waterlooville Air Rifle Club 🎯 My partner had never shot before but everyone was so accommodating, patient and helpful from the moment we arrived, which made her feel really comfortable and by the end she absolutely loved it 😊 I’ve shot at quite a few different clubs over the years and brought my own rifle with me, so I can honestly say the atmosphere here really stood out. John and the team were genuinely welcoming and friendly and made the whole experience really enjoyable from start to finish 👏 There’s also some really cool WW2 memorabilia around the club which gives the place loads of character and makes it really interesting to look around 🇬🇧 They’ve also got a great range of club rifles available which is brilliant for newer shooters wanting to try different setups. Thanks again all! 🍻 Really great experience overall and we’ll definitely be coming back 👍 Highly recommend to anyone interested in shooting whether you’re experienced or completely new to it!

I highly recommend visiting! Immediately after the first trial, we signed up for membership in this club and now we can come there at any time. Very friendly staff who are always ready to make your experience memorable and such a cute dog that seemed to show more calm than any adult. We were allowed to try as many as five different types of weapons and shoot both indoors and outdoors. The many different targets and the variety of weapons made our experience unforgettable. A very creative option for a date with your significant other.
