Monmain A Avignon (literally "Monmain in Avignon") was a little known French gunmaker or arquebusier working in Avignon, Provence, during the mid-18th century. His name is known from signed flintlock sporting guns. This is an original French 15 Bore Flintlock Sporting Shotgun by Monmain A Avignon. It has all original wood which has just the knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age & service use. The musket also has its original iron ramrod & sling swivels. The 42” barrel has three stage raised aprons, raised sighting rib, brass foresight & Fleur Di Lis proof mark. The smooth bore has residue & staining consistent with age & use. The lock plate is engraved ‘Monmain A Avignon’. It has an iron cock fitted and frizzen pan and brass furniture. The all original half stock is in very good condition. The wood is carved with letters ‘B CP’ (unknown). The musket is 56 ½” overall length. The action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
