C1840 English Rodgers Sheffield ‘Protector’ 120 Bore Percussion Knife Pistol With Polished Horn Scales German Silver Octagonal Barrel & Fittings Bullet Mould & Tweezers. Sn 23707 - 23707

This is a very good original Rodgers of Sheffield knife pistol made C1840. Overall the pistol when closed is 6 ½” overall length. The tapered 3 ½” octagonal barrel, frame & bolsters are German Silver. The barrel has a small bead foresight. The left of the barrel is crisply marked with two English proof marks. It has a steel hammer and folding trigger. It's cocking & firing actions are nice & strong. There are two folding knife blades, one large, one small. The large spear point blade is 3 ½” long and is very faintly etched on one side ‘Protector’. The small single edged blade is 2 ¼” length. Both blades are marked Rodgers Sheffield and other indistinct letters, possibly ‘James’ (all illustrated). The base of the butt has a trap with hinged lid for moulded bullets/ balls, caps and wadding. It has excellent undamaged polished horn grips. Both sides of the grips have inserts which contain on one side a German Silver scissor action bullet mould and the other a pair of steel tweezers. The price includes UK delivery.
