Frederick Barnes the English London based Gunmaker is recorded at Tower Hill between 1847 & 1850. The company then became Frederick Barnes & Co and are recorded at 3 Union Row, 109 Fenchurch Street and 67 Minories 1851-to 1866. Between 1857-1904 they are recorded at 109 Fenchurch Street only (see page 140 of British Gunmakers Vol.1 ‘by Brown). This is an excellent steel framed percussion traveling pistol by Frederick Barnes & Co London. It is 11”overall length with a 6” octagonal steel barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has just light staining consistent with age. The barrel has English black powder proofs. The top of the sighted barrel is signed ‘Barnes & Co London’. The action, Dolphin hammer, & trigger guard have foliate engraved decoration. It has a captive steel ram rod & steel belt bar. The action works crisply. The Walnut stock is undamaged and has fine chequering. The back of the grip has a void inlaid German Silver escutcheon. The price includes UK delivery.
