Auguste Francotte & Co was a Liege gunmaker. His company was founded in 1810 and was most active between 1860 and 1914. It had premises at Rue Mont Saint Martin 61, in Liege. This is a Belgian Liege 6 shot double action rim fire revolver by Francotte made C1870’s. It has a 4 ¾” octagonal sighted barrel. The barrel’s bore has staining consistent with age & use & well defined rifling. The frame and cylinder have Francotte’s “AF” with Crown marks and has other Liege inspection marks (illustrated). It is side gate loading & has a captive ejector rod. The metal work in the white is undamaged. The Walnut grips are undamaged. The weapon’s cocking and firing action works correctly in both single and double action. The pistol comes with its period brown leather holster which has a full flap cover secured by a brass lug, tooled decoration to the front edges and rear, riveted belt loop. The rear of the leather has numbers ‘745’ above ‘25’. The price includes UK delivery.
