The Type 56 Automatic Rifle also known as the AK-56 is a Chinese 7.62×39mm rifle. It is a variant of the Soviet-designed AK-47 (specifically Type 3) and AKM rifles (with folding stock). Production started in 1956 at Chinese State Factory 66. During the Cold War period, the Type-56 was exported to many countries and guerrilla forces throughout the world. Many of these rifles found their way to battlefields in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East and were used alongside other Kalashnikov pattern weapons from both the Soviet Union as well the Warsaw Pact nations of Eastern Europe. Chinese support for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam before the mid-1960s meant that the Type-56 was frequently encountered by American soldiers in the hands of either Vietcong guerrillas or PAVN soldiers during the Vietnam war. The Type-56 was discovered far more often than the original Russian-made AK-47s or AKMs. This is an excellent Chinese Type 56 with folding stock. It is serial number 18038099, has ’56 (Type 56) mark and state factory 66 (Triangle with 66) mark and Chinese proof / inspection mark. The wood work of this weapon has just knocks, bumps and bruises to be expected. The composite pistol grip has no damage. It has the correct fore sight, adjustable rear sight, forward sling bar and rear sling swivel fitted with webbing sling. It has a folding skeleton stock which operates as it should. Deactivated to UK specification in 2025 the weapon’s slide and trigger have been fixed in place during deactivation & it does not dry fire. The magazine release lever works as it should allowing the magazines to be inserted & removed. The magazine’s loading plates and springs are present and function as they should. The gun comes with 4 x inert deactivated rounds of 7.6mmm ammunition which load into the magazine correctly. The gun also comes with a canvas carry bag satchel which has cloth ties and cloth shoulder strap. The bag fits the AKM when the shoulder stock is in the folded position. The bag has very faint indistinct ink marks. The price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery Sn 23796
