The Colt M1851 Navy cap & ball revolver was a six-shot, single-action percussion weapon produced by Colt's Manufacturing Company USA . It saw widespread use in the American Civil War and on the American Western frontier. In the period, the pistols were also made in pocket variants in 5 shot .31 calibre. The Colt design lives on today in the form of quality live firing pistols true to the original Colt pistols, from Italian manufacturers Pedersoli, Uberti, Pietta and Euroarms. The pistol is serial number 9361. This deactivated modern Italian made example of the Colt Navy pocket revolver is in good condition. The pistol has a 5 ¾” blued steel octagonal barrel and measures 10 ¾” overall. The pistol has a conical brass foresight and the rear sight consists of a notch in the hammer as found on period Colt USA revolvers. The brass frame & barrel have Italian proof / inspection stamps. The butt of the brass grip frame is faintly signed ‘**** Italy’ It has a brass frame, a blued cylinder, colour case hardened trigger & hammer. The wood grip has knocks bumps and bruises consistent with handling. The pistol cocks and dry fires correctly in single action and its loading lever operates as it should.
