DEACTIVATED INERT. This is an unfired Brandt 60mm high explosive (HE) mortor that is the same as the American M2 60mm high explosive mortor bomb. The Brandt mortor was first introduced into service in 1938 as the Mortier Brandt de 60mm modele 35 and was a conventional muzzle loading mortor with a firing pin at the bottom of the mortor tube. This mortor had a cast iron body with a pressed steel fin assembly. This mortor is a modern 60mm Brandt mortor the same as the American M2 60mm mortor using the American fuze and fin assembly. the mortor has a cast iron body and a pressed steel fin assembly spot welded to it. the base of the mortor has a brass cartridge which is stamped L245 E32. The alloy fuze is complete and is stencilled on the nose plunger D20E -5- ACEC together with the companies monogram. (ACEC (Ateliers de Constructions Électriques de Charleroi) traded form 1904 until 1989.
