DEACTIVATED INERT. The American Army in the Vietnam War used the 50mm mortar as an infantry weapon. This is an American 50mm mortar body complete with its transit plug which has been adapted by the Communist North Vietnamese Army as a hand grenade by threading the tail section with a thread suitable for the communist grenade fuze. Thid is a good adaption of the mortor body to a hand grenade where the weight is right and is comfortable to hold in the hand for throwing. The grenade is fitted with the standard communist grenade fuze complete with its fly off lever and safety pin.
