Description

This is an excellent example of a British Light Company Officer’s sabre with a blue and gilt blade and fine original scabbard. The decoration on the blade features a royal cypher with “GR” and a trophy of arms with Tarleton helmet. The knuckle guard features a slung bugle along with the royal cypher. The sword is complete with a its wire-wound leather grip and lion’s head pommel along with original scabbard. This scabbard has two hanger rings and metal mounts. The maker, ‘Prosser, Charing Cross, London’ is inscribed on the scabbard.

*Condition*

This sword is in excellent condition for its age and use. The blade has a uniform, light patina and some areas of pitting. The hilt is strong and undamaged but the grip has a very slightly offset from the pommel.  The scabbard remains strong and intact with no visible damage just signs of light wear. Please see pictures for more detail.
