Famous Sheffield cutlers J.E. Middleton & his sons specialised in producing quality classic English & American design Bowies at their Rockingham Street, Sheffield premises. This is a proto-type Middleton knife with trials fighting knife dagger blade. When these knives entered their stock lists, they had straight blades without the curved cut outs near to the blade shank found on our example. Middleton is well known for their Bowie style single edged blades, which makes this double-edged example even more unique. It has an excellent 7” polished steel dagger blade. The knife measures 13 ¼” overall length. The blade is stamped ‘J.E. Middleton & Sons Rockingham Street Sheffield’. It has a brass-coloured finger guard. The dark wood twisted effect scales are encompassed by brass fittings. It is complete with its later near mint brown leather open top scabbard with brass riveted belt loop. All stitching & leather of the scabbard are intact. The price for this unique knife is a must for any serious Middleton collector includes UK delivery. 22518.
