RARE, WW1 Era French Guards Officer’s Horizon Blue Tunic / Jacket With Brass ‘R’ Insignia. Sn 12688 - 12688

This is a an original French Guards officer’s Tunic. This pattern of tunic was worn by French troops during WW1. The single breasted high collar Tunic is made of horizon blue material. The collar has blue facing and maroon gorget patches with brass “R” insignia. It has Guards pattern cuffs in blue and maroon with two gilt braid lines. It has hidden chest and lower pockets all with buttoned flaps with maroon edges. It has blue epaulettes with maroon piping and gilt braid central design and all of its original brass buttons. One epaulette has become detached on one edge but could easily be repaired. The rear left shoulder of the Tunic has a very small area of old stable mothing only visible on close inspection.
