This is a good, original 5” barrel version of the (Colt Navy) .36 Naval Calibre, 6 shot percussion revolver. The metal work has even patina with original blue finish and brass grip frame. The cylinder has original etched cylinder scene panels featuring Naval Battle Scenes and engraved ‘engaged 16 May 1843’. The cylinder is stamped ‘Patent N’. The pistol's steel frame, barrel block & trigger guard assembly are stamped with matching serial numbers '12326'. The barrel is stamped ‘CAL .36 NAVY MODEL- MADE IN ITALY & C.0.M- GARDONE-VT (GARDONE VAL TROMPIA, Italy, tucked away in a picturesque valley in the Italian Alps is the birthplace of most of Europe's small firearms) The pistol has a small brass blade fore sight and ‘v’ notch hammer rear sight. It has its original American Walnut grips which are in good condition with a number of minor age related marks.
