The 7.5cm liechtes Infanteriegeschutz 18 was a light infantry gun produced by Rheinmetall in 1927 and remained in service until the end of WW2. The gun was light and could be broken into carriable sizes for transport. This light infantry gun was used as close support by German infantry due to its useful size. This is an original 4 round wicker ammunition carrier with leather, canvas and wood fittings. The wooden stiffener stapled to the inside of the lid and is stencilled in black 7,5cm jgr.18 FES le Jgr 7.23n.A Gew.Ki IV. The base of the carrier is reinforced by a piece of wood which retains some of its original green painted finish. The webbing strap hinges and carrying handle are in good condition. The carrying case is complete with its original leather closure strap and buckle. The wicker work in in good condition. The carrier has 4 compartments for ammunition made of wicker.
