RARE & UNUSUAL - 1925-1935 Hubertus Push-Barrel Spring-Piston Air Pistol (.177 Calibre) This is a scarce example of the Hubertus .177 calibre air pistol, produced by Hubertus Metal Works of Mollin Germany, sometime between 1925 and 1935
Designed as a single-shot, push-barrel spring-piston pistol, the model takes its styling cues from pre-war semi-automatic handguns. This particular example features the smooth-bore barrel variant and showcases unusual and ingenious cocking system unique to Hubertus.
To cock the pistol, the barrel is first pushed in until the sear engages. The circular collar is then drawn back allowing the barrel to drop and expose the rear of the cylinder. A pellet is inserted, and the barrel is pulled fully back out again, assisted by the grip grooves at the muzzle. Once returned to a horizontal position, the collar is pushed forward to lock the assembly. The pistol is then ready to fire in the usual manner.
