INERT. This is a British unfired number 117 solid brass nose fuze that represents a number 117 fuze in its original transit tin with all the packing. The fuze is made out of turned solid brass with a lacquered finish. The side of the fuze is stamped on the side PLUG REP NO 117 FUZE MK1 157 WS. The fuze is contained in its original screw top steel transit tin and is complete with all of its original metal, rubber and hard plastic inserts. The base of the tin is stamped ROF (W) 4 59 B&SP PATENTS APPLIED FOR and is the forerunner of the later steel screw top fuze containers. The fuse was used to train soldiers in the use of the fuse and also to be fired in inert practice HE (high Explosive) rounds.
