This is an experimental American anti-tank round developed in the 1930s. The guns started off as a T series 1, 2, and 3 as an aircraft gun but with the widespread introduction of the .5 calibre browning machine gun, the T series was developed as the T4 for use an automatic belt fed anti-tank gun. The gun was built by Colt and was based on the long recoil principal but the performance at that stage of the war rendered it ineffective against the more modern armour. The gun was never adopted for service. This round is headstamped CAL. .90 T4 4430 -F.A.I.W.P.B. and is also stencilled on the base AMM LOT E-1430-2PA. The side of the brass cartridge case is stencilled in black HERC. NH-M2 HERC. LOT 4148_1939 CAL. .90G T4 MV 2700. The copper driving banded steel projectile is stamped round its circumference Stamped on the projectile: LOT 2536-1 F.A. CAL. .90, T1, E.D.B. and is stencilled in white INERT.
