INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an unfired WW2 British, 1942 Dated No 199 Mk IV fuze for the British 3.7 inch anti-aircraft which was the standard heavy anti-aircraft gun used from 1938 throughout WW2. The bakelite cap unscrews off the top of the fuze and the two brass powder timing rings come off. At the top of the body is the arming firing pin for the fuze which is under a screwed cover. The No 199 fuse was the first fuse used with this gun and was superseded by the clockwork fuse which was in turn was superseded by the proximity fuse. This fuse is stamped round its circumference No199 IV GK 6/42 (June 1942) round the top brass time ring. The main body of the fuze is brass and is stamped in scales from 1 to 30. Above this are two powder time rings. Above this is a bakelite ballistic cap. This fuse is in excellent condition. See British and American Artillery of World War 2 by Ian V. Hogg, pages 107 to 111. The price includes UK delivery and no licence is required to possess these inert rounds in the UK if retained as part of a collection or displays. O 2122
