Description

INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an impressive Imperial Russian 1906 dated (156 x 1110R) brass cartridge case. The 152mm 45 caliber Pattern 1892 was a Russian naval gun developed in the years before the Russo-Japanese War that armed a variety of warships of the Imperial Russian Navy during the Russo-Japanese War and World War I. This gun was also fitted to the The Pallada class cruisers consisted of three sister ships, one being the Aurora which was built in Saint Petersburg for service in the Pacific. All of these three ships of this class served during the Russo-Japanese War. Aurora survived the Battle of Tsushima and was interned under US protection in the Philippines, and eventually returned to the Baltic Fleet. One of the first incidents of the October Revolution in Russia took place on the cruiser Aurora, which reportedly fired the first shot, signalling the beginning of the attack on the Winter Palace. The Auora is now preserved in St Petersburg. This is a brass cartridge case of the dimensions used on the aurora and is headstamped N21 1906 (date) P over a star 1 SJ 5 T BM and a T in a circle. The base of the cartridge case is threaded for a screw in primer. The price includes UK delivery and no licence is required to possess this inert cartridge case in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display (34). O 1789
