INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a rare unfired German WW2, 8.8cm (88x822R) (APCBCHE/T) Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic High Explosive/Trace Round (PzGr.39/43) round for the King Tiger II tanks 88mm KwK43 gun and in the PaK 43 anti-tank. The 8.8 cm KwK 43. Versions of this gun were also mounted in several German armoured vehicles under different designations, including the Tiger II, Elefant, Jagdpanther tanks and Nashorn tank destroyers. The copper washed steel cartridge case retains much of its original brass washed finish. The Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Capped High Explosive Trace (PzGr.39/43) projectile retains much of its original black finish with a white painted tip to the ballistic cap and is fitted with 2 sintered iron driving bands. The side of the projectile is stencilled in white on both sides FES (sintered iron driving band). There are no visible headstamp markings. There are no cracks to the case mouth (see page 191 Hogg, German Artillery of World War Two).
