INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an unfired American 37mm / 1.45 inch Hotchkiss heavy land service revolver cannon, (37x119R) high explosive round. This round was used in the 5 barrelled revolver gun mounted on a lightweight steel field carriage and fed by means of a 10 round ammunition clip. The gun was sometimes called the 1 pounder heavy Hotchkiss due toe it having a longer cartridge case and heavier projectile. The effective range also increased from 2000 yards to 5000 yards. This round consists of a brass cartridge case which is headstamped MANUFACURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS Co. CONN. U.S.A. 5 – 91 (may 1891 manufacturing date) and the flaming grenade armoury mark. The cartridge case also has an unfired pressed in copper percussion primer.
