INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a WW1, Imperial German, 1915 dated 77mm (77x229R) high explosive round fitted with a KZ 11 brass and steel graze impact fuze. These shells were called whizz bang in the trenches due to the made by shells fired from the German 7.7 cm Feldkanone 96 nA (neuer Art) and the upgraded 7.7 cm Feldkanone 16 (FK16). The brass cartridge has 2 crimping grooves at the neck and is headstamped St GFPS 193 AUB 1915 (August 1915 date) Sp197. The steel projectile has an unfired copper driving band and is stamped round the circumference K.Gr 15 (Cannon Shell Model 1915). The projectile is fitted with a KZ 11 brass and steel graze impact fuze which is stamped 100 round the circumference.
