INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an original German 1940 dated No 50 bomb fuse. This fuse is an anti-handling fuse designed to function if the bomb is moved, vibrated or the plungers held down. The fuses operating electric charge is held in the condensers so discharging it would operate it. The fuse is armed 3 seconds after impact and the operation can achieved by successive bomb detonations nearby. The all alloy fuse has two arming plungers and a steel locating pin on the side. The fuse has two insulated plungers at the top. There is a steel location pin at the top. The fuse is stamped at the top EI.Z Rhs AA 1940 (1940 date) a 50 within a circle. The outer top of the fuse is stamped 1c and waffenampt 56. The body of the fuse is painted green. This anti-handling/delay fuse was used in SC 250 and 500kg bombs with a long delay fuse usually fitted in the second fuse pocket which was another problem for bomb disposal officers sent to defuse any unexploded bombs. See page 211, German Air Dropped Weapons to 1945 by Wolfgang Fleischer. The price includes UK delivery and no licence is required to possess this inert fuse in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. O 1714
