INERT. This is a pair of British No 208 Mk 6/2 Clockwork Fuse Converted To A No 208 Mk 8/1 Fuzes on a mahogany display plinth. These fuzes were used in the British 3.7, 4.5 & 5.25 Inch Anti-aircraft Guns which was the standard heavy anti-aircraft gun used from 1938 throughout WW2. The 200 series of clockwork fuze superseded the No 199 powder fuze in 1942 with a maximum running time of 43 seconds. The main body of the fuzes are made of brass. There is a brass screwed locking collar securing the alloy nosecone of the fuse.The sectioned fuze has had a quarter section has been removed from the body of one of the fuzes revealing the clockwork and safety shutter mechanism. This fuze is stamped BW53 LOT 82 0099182. The unsectioned fuze is stamped round its circumference No.208 MK6/2 struck out and 208 MK8/1 BW53LOT 92 009243. Both fuzes are in excellent condition mounted on their mahogany display plinth.
