Description

1843 Pattern East India Company .650” Carbine Calibre Smooth Bore Percussion Cavalry Pistol, Barrel WD & Maker/ Contractor Marked ‘N7 Leigh’ With Brass Fittings & Captive Ram Rod. A 582 - A 582

This is an original EIC marked 1849 Pattern percussion Cavalry Pistol. It measures 15 ½” overall and has an 8 ¾” round steel barrel with clean .650" Carbine Calibre smooth bore fitted with fixed sights. The barrel, beneath the wood is WD marked and has a maker or contractor mark ‘N7 Leigh’ (indicating manufacture after the British Government took over the EIC). It has a heavy military dolphin hammer, brass trigger guard with extended tang, brass fore end block and butt cap with fixed lanyard ring. It also has a captive steel ramrod with sprung steel catch stamped ‘P’. The side plate is marked with the EIC rampant Lion mark. The walnut full stock has just the bumps and bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metal work has even patina throughout. Its action works as it should. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. A 582
