This is an original near mint British No 5 mark 1, second pattern Jungle Carbine bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet is un-marked except on the top of the pommel with a broad arrow and M/78 (Elkington) just behind the wooden grips. The bayonet has a polished 8" Bowie style clean blade (12" overall). The muzzle ring, cross guard, lug button and pommel has a blackened finish. The lug button has a good strong spring action. The undamaged slab wood grips are secured by two screw bolts. The bayonet is complete with its original No 5 mark 2 steel scabbard with a brass mouthpiece. The scabbard is undamaged and retains its original matted black finish. The bayonet is contained in a ’37 webbing frog with 4188467 stamped to the rear. See Skennerton, item B293 on pages 238 – 240. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 568
