WW1 Era French Berthier St Etienne Arsenal, Model 1892 9mm Lebel Calibre Bolt Action Cavalry Carbine & Sling**UK 2012 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**Sn 20067:55 20067:55

The French Berthier carbine was used by the French Military and saw service with the French & Belgian Armies in WW1. Later due to shortages of weapons the carbines saw service in WW2. These weapons were issued to mounted troops, Cavalry and the French Foreign Legion. The weapon was designed by Émile Berthier, a mechanical engineer in La Compagnie Bône-Guelma (one of the five subsidiary companies of the Algerian Railway System). This is an excellent original example. It has the correct folded over bolt lever to prevent it being caught when used by the Cavalry. The carbine has all original wood which has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age & service use. The breech is marked 'St Etienne Mle 1892'. The weapon has a steel butt plate, block and blade foresight, adjustable rear sight, cleaning rod & sling rings fitted with leather sling. The weapon has inspection marks. The carbine is serial number 48259 which is stamped on the barrel and bolt and has other un-matching numbers. Deactivated to UK specification in 2012 the carbine cocks and dry fires. The price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery**We can arrange for this firearm to be brought up to the latest UK/EU specification for UK customers (customers can purchase on our lay-away scheme. The weapon will then be brought up to the EU specification and the relevant certificate obtained prior to the transfer of ownership and delivery)**Sn 20067:55
