The Remington Rolling Block rifle was a breech-loading rifle produced from the mid-1860s into the early 20th century by E. Remington and Sons (later Remington Arms Company). The action was extremely strong, and could easily withstand the increased pressure of the new smokeless powders coming into use by the late 1880s. This Remington USA rolling block rifle has a 24” octagonal barrel (38 ½” overall). The rifled bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. It has an external hammer, blade fore sight, ‘v’ notch plate rear sight & steel butt plate. The woodwork has only the minor bumps and bruises from normal use which is to be expected of a weapon of this age. The metal has even aged patina. The top barrel flat is signed by the maker ‘Remington Arms Co Ilion N.Y’. It's loading and firing actions work crisply. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique obsolete calibre rifle no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Sn 23751
